Our Journey in Business Acquisition

From a small team of financial analysts to Canada's trusted platform for business acquisition education—here's how we built something meaningful over the past seven years.

2018

The Beginning: Three Analysts and a Vision

What started as weekend discussions between three financial analysts in Calgary quickly became something bigger. We'd noticed a gap—plenty of resources existed for starting businesses from scratch, but almost nothing practical about acquiring existing ones. The numbers were compelling: established businesses had track records, existing cash flow, and proven market demand. Yet most educational content focused on the riskier path of building from zero.

First 50 students enrolled in our pilot workshop series covering due diligence fundamentals and acquisition financing strategies.

2021

Expanding Beyond the Classroom

By 2021, we'd learned that real education happens through practice, not just theory. Our students kept asking for more detailed case studies, actual deal structures, and hands-on analysis work. We started developing comprehensive programs that walked through real acquisitions—the successful ones and the deals that fell apart. This shift toward practical application changed everything. Students began seeing business acquisition as a learnable skill set rather than some mysterious art form.

Launched our signature 12-month program with over 300 students learning advanced valuation methods and negotiation strategies.

2024

Building Canada's Business Acquisition Community

Last year marked a turning point. We realized we weren't just teaching acquisition skills—we were building a community of people who thought differently about business ownership. Instead of the traditional path of working for others or starting from scratch, our students were acquiring established businesses and growing them strategically. The network effect became powerful as graduates began collaborating, sharing opportunities, and supporting each other's deals.

Over 1,200 students have completed our programs, with many now owning and operating acquired businesses across various industries.

What's Next for 2025

This year, we're focusing on something that's been missing in business education: the human side of acquisitions. Beyond financial models and legal structures, successful acquisitions require understanding people, culture, and the subtle dynamics that make businesses actually work. We're developing programs that address these softer skills while maintaining our practical, numbers-driven approach.

Our goal remains simple: help people build wealth through intelligent business ownership rather than hoping their employer's stock options pan out or betting their savings on unproven startup ideas.

Why Acquisition Makes Sense

Most people think about business ownership backwards. They assume starting from zero is somehow less risky than buying something with a proven track record. But established businesses come with existing customer relationships, tested systems, and predictable cash flow patterns. The challenge isn't finding good businesses to buy—it's knowing how to evaluate them properly.
